3. What is bothering the professional today?

Here is a typical scenario in an IT company; or for that matter, any organization where interpersonal communication is involved.
  • Are you able to communicate about your performance to the client in an impressive manner so that you are chosen?
  • Why do your team mates not prefer to come to you for solutions and go to less capable people instead?
  • Your project manager doesn't seem to be very warm towards you either, although he does drop in those occasional mails appreciating your work.
  • Your inability to manage a conflicting situation always leaves you angry and unapproachable.
  • A negative report or an appraisal gives you a feeling of conspiracy against you.
  • Working with passion has become a passé since each day seems heavy.

4. Are technical/job-related skills not enough?

Technical and job-related skills are a must, but they are NOT sufficient when it comes to progressing up the ladder.

Professional managers expect their teams to be proactive and communicate openly.
